Australia's highest court has upheld a new government law on mandatory packaging for cigarettes that removes brand colours and logos from packaging. The law requires cigarettes to be sold in olive green packets, with graphic images warning of the consequences of smoking.

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has opened one Camel smoking lounge, a Camel Plaza (pictured below) and six smoking corners at Munich International airport. JTI already has similar facilities at locations such as Athens, Moscow, Zürich and Kiev, and the company expects to have 46 lounges, 70 smoking cabins and 60 smoking stations at 15 international airports by the end of the year.

The first Curve Art packs will come in Spain. They will be "Combinaciones Bestiales". Also limited Black and White in Nederlands. Lots of "New Design Events" (Israel, Austria or Suisse for examples)...

UK JTI news: JTI is launching the world’s first curved pack design for its Premium cigarette brand, Camel. The innovative and unique structural pack rejuvenation will be rolled out across all Camel Blue 20s packs, and forms part of a complete range modernisation – which will also see Camel Blue 10s packs receive a new look. The new designs will be available nationally from September. Camel is the original American Blend cigarette, and the sixth biggest-selling cigarette brand in the world. Particularly popular within major cities across the UK, Camel currently sells more than 8.3 million packs every year. The Premium cigarette sector accounts for a significant 22% volume share of the UK cigarette market, and continues to provide the opportunity for premium profits. Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has unveiled two new line extensions to the Camel brand family for the travel retail channel. Camel Black & White is a line extension to the Camel brand family, and an American Blend type of cigarette. The packs have been designed in a contemporary and minimalist style to meet the demands of modern adult smokers, said the brand owner. By the end of 2012, Camel Black & White will be available in 25 duty free markets around the world. The line will be rolled out initially through domestic markets. Camel is also introducing the “Camel Fresh” concept with Activate, a new product that gives the smoker a choice of taste. The filter is made with “crush capsule” technology to enhance flavour, said JTI.
